People Are Happiest When Making Music
Know the power of music to enrich our lives.
Let's Search for the World's Most Beautiful Music
Ancient chinese philosophy stressed the importance of music. Xunzi wrote that music "can make the hearts of the people good; it deeply stirs men; and it alters their manners and changes their customs. Thus, the Ancient Kings guided the people with ritual and music, and the people became harmonious and friendly."
Having beautiful music playing in your home can renew a right spirit within you and your family members, imparting reverence, tranquility, harmony, joy and vision -- strengthening your marriage and family relations.
Furthermore, music can lift you out of depression better than any pill.
Mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, grandmothers, professors, school teachers and journalists should be collectors of the world's lovliest music.
I have a small cloth-bound notebook I made where I am collecting the titles of beautiful music and the names of song writers I like.
In searching for beautiful music, you might interview choir directors and professors of music appreciation in colleges to ask them the names of their favorite songs or composers.
How do we find the best music?
Amazing New Tools for Searching for Music
Itunes is a marvelous free software you can download from the apple.com website to help you find beautiful music. Now, in the comfort of your home, sitting at your computer, you can listen to a short snippit of virtually every song on the market in many countries and download those you like the best for about 99 cents per song! Itunes is not only a music store, it is a wonderful player. Once your songs are downloaded, you can then check just those you want to play and it will play each one -- one after another -- from your computer -- even if its 100 songs.

Many of these songs are also on http://www.youtube, a site for videos you can access free of charge.
Singing with your family and friends will create wonderful memories, bonds of affection and help everyone be better people.
You can make these experiences even more special by learning to play the guitar. Before television existed, people used to play instruments and sing much more often.

"If we did all the things we are capable of doing, we would certainly astound ourselves, said Thomas Alva Edison."
Amazing technologies for making music
Here's How to Have a Good Time
I envision people getting together in one another's homes and making music using amazing technologies. A CD of John Denver, for instance, might be played as you play the violin along with it -- not with a violin but by pressing a button that sounds exactly like a violin as you play a simple tune on the synthesizer.
Someone else might play the tune on the synthesizer piano that sounds like an oboe -- a wind instrument.
A good time indeed.
You could play a tune with the violin button and tape it, then play it again adding the oboe, tape that, then play it again adding holding down the choir button etc.
What a gift for a child.
How might we educate and inspire each other to bring out the vast potentialities of our technologies? We need MSNBC, BBC, CNN and Fox videos of groups of friends making music together, holding down buttons. (For we want our kids to be button pushers rather than pill poppers at parties.)
The power of music
How to End War in Syria
In this song, John Michael Talbot sings about "beating our swords into plowshares" and "peace to the nations."
Syrians may not be able to understand English, even still, the music would calm down the hatred and hostility and bring about a marvelous spirit of harmony and unity -- a vision that is awesome.
We fight "holy war" -- not with the weapons of the evil, not with bombs and bullets, but with light. Light dispels the darkness. The light is harmony on earth and perhaps only music can help us understand it.
Our greatest weapon is music.
